In 2008 I graduated at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague. During my study I developed a love for designing sculptural chairs.
The last few years I make more abstract work. I saw wood, sand it and glue the pieces together. The repetition and placing the woodgrain in certain direction will give the right effect to the final result. The work becomes functional with my lamps.
I get my inspiration from geometrical forms and patterns. I like to see modern architecture. But also repetition and to enrich seemless worthless materials are interesting subjects to work with.
As a designer you are constantly trying to find your direction. I have this growing urge that I only want to make new work out of already excisting objects or materials as you can see in my Table-to-Table projects.
Since 2009 I have my own workplace and gallery in Fort Liebrug in Haarlemmerliede. From this inspirational place I am developing my own line in art.
